App Store Reviews
- Love this app
- I am a pastel artist and I love this app & how closely the tools resemble the actual soft pastels I use in real life.
I love the blending tools & how you can manipulate color & edges.
This app is extremely user friendly.
I started with the free version & have since bought the app to get rid of the ads & free up just the little bit of screen real estate that they took up.
Giudizio pienamente positivo
- You really can draw pastels (as if you were drawing on paper)
The layers are amazing, and the blur.... Men, it's awesome!
You are the bests for drawing, at the AppleStore!
- Vraiment interessant comme produit, I luv it. Je fais du pastel sec normalement et avec ipastel, je peux maintenant dessiner partout!
- Brilliant app for soft and impressionist artwork. Just love it!
- Pastel at its best
- Thank you for creating this app, the best to you.

Create Digital Pastel Paintings
The pastel medium has been around for several centuries, with roots as old as mankind.
An ever-increasing number of artists have since discovered the rich colors and expressiveness of pastel painting.
This app will let you create beautiful digital works of art, especially if you're a talented artist.
If you're not, iPastels will keep you entertained until you become one through practice and experience!
Simulating soft (chalk) pastels, oil pastels and color blending, the iPastels app tries to be as realistic as possible.
Actual pastelists can use iPastels to try out ideas and compositions before starting on a new painting in real life.
Beginners will be able to practise and refine their skills, without the added cost of pastel sticks and specialty papers.
One of the most widely used techniques in pastel is to use your finger to blend the colors into each other right on the paper, as part of the painting process.
Using iPastels, paint with different colors and then use Smudge (the finger) or the Cotton Swab to blend and smoothen the colors.
This produces amazing results!
Flick along the toolbar to remove it.
You can also flick the toolbar over to the opposite side.
Simply choose whether to paint on the foreground, middle ground or background.
Tap once on a color to select it. Tap a second time to adjust it in a number of ways or to pick a new color.
Adjacent to the colors you will find buttons to switch between the different color sets.
Press a second time if you want to replace the color set with one of the default ones.
You can work on up to 10 paintings, stored within the app under 'Work In Progress', so you don't have to use the export function until a painting is completely finished.
Exported paintings can be found in Photos (Camera Roll).
You can also import an image from Photos to either the current layer or the background layer.
For information on what a specific button does, just press it and hold down for a couple of seconds and a short explanation will appear.
