"Love this app"
"I am a pastel artist and I love this app & how closely the tools resemble the actual soft pastels I use in real life.
I love the blending tools & how you can manipulate color & edges.
This app is extremely user friendly.
I started with the free version & have since bought the app to get rid of the ads & free up just the little bit of screen real estate that they took up.
Great app!"

The pastel medium has been around for several centuries, with roots as old as mankind.
An ever-increasing number of artists have since discovered the rich colors and expressiveness of pastel painting.
This app will let you create beautiful digital works of art, especially if you're a talented artist.
If you're not, iPastels will keep you entertained until you become one through practice and experience!
Simulating soft (chalk) pastels, oil pastels and color blending, the iPastels app tries to be as realistic as possible.
Actual pastelists can use iPastels to try out ideas and compositions before starting on a new painting in real life.
Beginners will be able to practise and refine their skills, without the added cost of pastel sticks and specialty papers.
One of the most widely used techniques in pastel is to use your finger to blend the colors into each other right on the paper, as part of the painting process.
Using iPastels, paint with different colors and then use Smudge (the finger) or the Cotton Swab to blend and smoothen the colors.
This produces amazing results!
Layers, which can be a real life-saver for digital artists, are supported in iPastels in a way that's very easy to use.
You simply choose whether to paint on the foreground, middle ground or background and that's it.
You can swipe in different directions over the panels to either move them to the opposite side or to make them disappear, for fullscreen drawing.
Tap once on a color to select it. Tap a second time to adjust it in a number of ways or to pick a new color.
Adjacent to the colors you will find buttons to switch between the different color sets.
Press a second time if you want to replace the color set with one of the default ones.
The work in progress is automatically saved between sessions, so you don't have to use the export function until your painting is completely finished.
Exported paintings can be found in your Pictures/Photos folder.
If you wonder what a button does, just press it and hold down for a couple of seconds and a short explanation will appear.
Blend colors with your finger, just like you would in real life!
Swipe along the panels to remove them, for fullscreen painting.
Swipe the panels toward the other side to move them there.
